Valerie's story
When Valerie was diagnosed with a form of Leukaemia, she decided to focus on living before she died. She spent time with the people she loved most; making new memories such as afternoon tea at Cliveden.
As her illness progressed, she needed specialist care and was eventually admitted to Thames Hospice.
From the moment Valerie arrived with her family, the nurses at the Hospice made sure that she felt safe. It was a time of peace. Stuart remembers visiting with his brother Scott, looking out over the lake and sharing memories of their life together.
For Valerie, Thames Hospice was a place of comfort. Stuart said,
“It’s the worst place to need but the best place to be.”
